Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry

Numerous congenital metabolic diseases are detectable by newborn screening tests, where the testing is carried out by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. This instrumental technique comprises of a gas chromatograph coupled to a mass spectrometer. It is an analytical procedure, which combines the features of both gas-chromatography and mass spectrometry to identify different substances within a test sample. Drug detection and the identification of unknown samples are mainly carried out with this procedure.
