The Medcon 2016 event organized by Assocham was held at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi on 10th March 2016. The award was presented by Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Hon'ble Minister of State, Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India. This award function, aims to recognize & encourage best practices in the field of diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and hospitals. It also aims to boost domestic manufacturing of medical equipment including diagnostic equipment, surgical equipment and others in line with the "Make in India" campaign.

Trivitron Healthcare bags the Prestigious India Medical Devices Award 2022
While giving a clarion call for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, the Hon’ble Prime Minister had highlighted that India could only achieve self-reliance in pharmaceuticals and medical devices by strengthening its R&D infrastructure that would drive expansion of access to life-saving medicines and help India become a global pharmaceuticals and medical devices exports hub.
The Medical Devices sector, a key sector of the Indian and global economy, has echoed that India can only achieve self-reliance in the sector by strengthening its R&D infrastructure that would drive expansion of access to life-saving medicines and help India become a global medical devices export hub.
However, only companies that innovate and simultaneously scale up their production with quality would go on to pioneer sustainable products and process interventions. With the above-mentioned objectives, the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India, decided to set up an Award Scheme to recognize and reward valuable contributions, motivate, encourage innovations and inventions in the field of Pharmaceuticals, Bio-Pharma and Medical Devices, products, processes and other areas of national and social importance respectively.
This India-Pharma award scheme would go on to motivate the inventors to carry out innovative Research & Development in the areas of Pharmaceuticals, Bio-Pharma, Medical Devices and allied industry, which in turn will improve performance / quality of the existing product.
