Between hemodialysis that uses a filtering hemodialyzer machine, and peritoneal dialysis that works by diffusion, the former is more commonly adopted by patients with chronic kidney diseases.

Increased incidences of diabetes, obesity, and hypertension have led to an increase in kidney related disorders. When of the chronic type, renal or kidney diseases often need an organ transplant. In the absence of sufficient number of donors, and due to the lack of suitability, many patients opt for dialysis care to prolong life and lead normal lives.
