Neonatal Galactose

Labsystems Diagnostics Neonatal Galactose is a quantitative fluorometric test designed for the measurement of total galactose from dried blood spot samples. The test combines the determination of free galactose and ...

Overview

Overview

The test operates through a two-step enzymatic process:

  • Galactose Cleavage : Galactose is released from galactose-1-phosphate.
  • Fluorometric Reaction : The liberated galactose undergoes an enzymatic reaction that produces a fluorogenic product. The fluorescence intensity is directly proportional to the total galactose content in the sample.
