Iomeron® (Iomeprol)

Iomeron® is a cutting-edge non-ionic contrast medium engineered by Bracco research to address the complex requirements of modern diagnostic imaging. As a "multifactorial solution," Iomeron prioritizes patient safety and procedural efficiency by balancing low osmolality with high hydrophilicity. Whether utilized for routine X-rays or high-speed Computed Tomography (CT), Iomeron provides a stable and reliable medium that minimizes physiological disruption, ensuring high-quality diagnostic results across a wide array of clinical settings.

Overview

Overview

The technical excellence of Iomeron is rooted in its unique molecular structure, which achieves reduced viscosity at equal iodine concenteration. This physical advantage facilitates easier administration through thin-wall needles and automated power injectors, allowing for high-flow rates required in modern CT angiography. Furthermore, its high hydrophilicity and low intrinsic toxicity, measured through sensitive indices such as neurotoxicity, ensure that it is well-tolerated by patients, even during sensitive intracerebral administrations where tissue sensitivity is at its peak.

Features

Key Features

  • Lowest Osmolality and Viscosity in its Class: Exceptionally low Osmolality and Viscosity at equal iodine concenteration, ensures easier manual or mechanical injection and better patient hemodynamics.
  • High Hydrophilicity: Reduces interaction with biological membranes and proteins, leading to a safer systemic and local profile.
  • Broad Range of Concentrations: Available in 300, 350, and 400 mg/ml iodine concentrations, providing the flexibility needed for everything from urography to complex cardiac imaging. Iomeron 400 is the drug of choice for all Angiography procedures, due to its highest Iodine content.
  • Safe in Renally impaired patients for both IV and IA use.
  • Thermal Stability: Maintains solution integrity even at high concentrations, ensuring consistent performance throughout the shelf life of Five years, unlike three years for competitive molecules. Also contains no stabilizers or diagnostically useless additives like Sodium-edetatate, unlike other Non ionic contrast.
  • Approved by USFDA, and EU.

Clinical Applications

  • MDCT & Angiography: Ideal for multi-slice CT scans where high iodine delivery rates are necessary for clear vascular opacification in Coronary Angios, Triple phase liver study, Pulmonary Emboli visualization,
  • Coronary CT : Higher intracoronary attenuation in CT-CA, results in greater diagnostic accuracy in detecting coronary stenosis.
  • Interventional Radiology: Used in peripheral, visceral, and coronary arteriography to detect steno-occlusive diseases with high precision.
  • Urography & Pyelography: Provides dense opacification of the urinary tract for the assessment of renal function and structural abnormalities.
  • Cath Lab procedures- Iomeron 400, gives highest opacification in broad chested patients with poor window , for edge detection and stent placement, Visualizing the contrast tree until the third distal vessel , and bifurcation branches .
