Defibrillators are devices that restore the heartbeat by giving high energy electric pulse to the heart through the chest wall. The process of applying high energy shock is called Defibrillation. This is mainly used to treat life threatening conditions that affect the rhythm of the heart such as cardiac arrhythmia, ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia.
