His first job was with a medical equipment distribution agency called Instruments and Machines Inc in Chennai as an application specialist. Velu's boss Ravindran was so impressed with his work that he floated another company called Allied Healthcare, with Velu as a partner in 1989.At the age of 21, Velu turned entrepreneur. Soon Allied Healthcare which was a general medical devices distribution company, started doing better than IMI, say Velu. Trivitron combined Velu's accumulated savings of Rs. 25 lakh and his years of experience of medical equipment technology. Today, Trivitron has a revenue of around Rs. 500 crore.
