Trivitron partners with Hologic to serve the healthcare needs of women in India better. CHENNAI, November 17th, 2008 : “Hologic takes enormous pride in the quality of our products and the opportunity to impact the lives of others,” said Jack Cumming, Hologic’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “The 4,000 associates of Hologic and our distribution partners in 125 countries are committed to improving the health of women around the world. We believe that Trivitron has the resources and the resolve to help us make a difference for women in India.” Trivitron is the only company in India to offer healthcare solutions in all the five fields of Medical Technology, viz., Medical Instruments, Medical Devices, Diagnostics, Medical Consumables and Healthcare IT. The Trivitron Group, with 400 employees, 20 offices and 200 dealers across India has a current sales turnover of Rs. 250crore and has been growing at the rate of 30% per annum. Moreover, Trivitron recently announced their exclusive tie-up with Boston Scientific Corp, USA, for Distribution & Marketing of Medical Devices in India and few other South Asian Countries. Trivitron Healthcare will be the first in the country to make a concerted effort to specifically address the issues of women’s health. Their main focus, initially, will be on the Hologic Reproductive and Gynaecological Surgical Health product lines. “We are proud of this alliance with Hologic, and happy to serve the health care needs of the women in India as the health issues faced by women today deserve and demand our attention”, said Dr. Velu, Managing Director, Trivitron Group of Companies. “This association will help us provide the latest diagnostic and imaging technologies in the area of women’s health,” added Dr.Velu. “The women’s health market in India is a significant opportunity for Hologic and Trivitron,” said Okkis Arissian, Hologic’s Managing Director of Distribution Sales for Europe, the Middle East & Africa. “The Cancer Support Society of India reports that cervical cancer is the number one cause of cancer death in India. This is really unfortunate as cervical cancer is relatively easy to diagnose with the Hologic ThinPrep Pap test. Our ThinPrep Pap test is the world’s leading liquid-based cytology and the only method approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as ‘significantly more effective’ than the conventional Pap smear for detection of cervical abnormalities. As the FDA approved ThinPrep has been sold in the U.S. since 1996, the incidence of cervical cancer in the country has decreased by 28 percent.” |
